ellerslie
Saturday pack in day - Lydia and Amyl collected the truck from Helensville, Kelvin, Michael, Adam and myself carted the elements from the garage up to the top of the drive ready for loading. An exercise in spatial organisation. Lunch, then out to Ellerslie. Unload and then back to Lydias for the cages.

Nuite D'ete & pelargonium

Nuiet D'ete - first of the very dark, wine red flowers.
Removed all damaged foliage and close to opening flower buds. Still problems with the yellow patterning on the leaves. The glads do not look as though they will develop flower buds in time for the show.

The pelargoniums are looking stunning. Simon has kept these looking lush and healthy. Only the cerise and magenta flowering ones are being kept for the flowers, the rest will be used as foliage fillers.
Permathene for plastic to use in the planters, under the lawn and as a pond liner approx $75.00
Plywood for the timber screen is more expensive than anticipated, but the finish will be superior. Lydia and Kelvin to drill holes in the pipes and cut the screen in the Unitec workshop tomorrow while I sand and paint the planter and decking here.
Adam and Michael to help with the loading on Saturday.

updates
2. Publicity meeting with Naomi regarding flyers & brief for Pav Paradise.
3. Dahlias have been checked over by Linda Brown from Dahlia Haven who says that the Barbara Kappler have a mineral deficiency - dose with epsom salts, which we have done, and await the miraculous result eagerly. If no improvement in the leaf colouration it is still possible that they have a virus in which case ....!
4. Construction phase is nearing completion. Kelvin and I completed the framework for the long planter after a frustrating morning collecting materials. Still to do in the construction area:
- lots of sanding
- paint & stain wall panels & deck
- complete panels for planters
5. Lydia off on a seek and find expedition:
- Kowhai prostrata - the lawn mower man chomped the ends of three plants
- Carex virgata as Chionochloa in the size required is just not available
- Dainella nigra in pb3 for foliage filler around the low edges
- tiles for long planter - possible sponsorship
- lawn for Pav Para - many thanks to Ready Lawn for sponsorship
- wire strop for Black Landscapes
6. Still to find/acquire
- PVC liner for pond and planters
- lighting
- publicity/flyers
- materials & paint for carved screen
